Hi! I’m Dr. Kim.
I am a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) as well as the Florida State Board of Health, to practice both Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.
In addition to classical acupuncture, I am trained in other modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine such as cupping, Tui na, auricular and scalp acupuncture, Gua Sha, and electrostimulation acupuncture. I graduated with honors from East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida, and am a member of the Florida State Oriental Medical Association (FSOMA). Currently, I am furthering my education, with focus on the recovery of addictive and habitual behaviors through the application of both mental health management and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I have Masters in Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Bachelor degree in Health Services, from East West College of Natural Medicine, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida, where I majored in Ballet.
Prior to becoming a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I developed an organization that introduced fine arts into after school care facilities, with its primary focus on the cultural growth of underprivileged children. By providing dance and musical theatre education to children in many Latchkey programs, we were able to enrich the lives of thousands of children, nationwide, by opening the door to a cultural world they may have otherwise not experienced.
Believe it or not, I am one of the few native Floridians, born and raised right here in St. Petersburg. My husband, Bob, and I have been married for over 30 years, and have nine amazing children: Tyler, Jordann, Gabriel, Kevin, Annalyse, Lucas, Olivia, Cameron, and Addison. While the first five have moved into their own homes, we are far from “empty nesters,” having four children and four dogs running around the house to keep us on our toes!
A question I am commonly asked, and one that I love to answer is: “what made you decide to become an Acupuncturist?”
For 26 years, I was blessed to be a stay at home mom. I strived to instill the core value of family into the essence of my children. During this time, I became an accomplished Uber driver, Nurse, Nutritional Consultant, Sous-Chef, Child Development Analysist, Stylist, Child Psychologist, Director of Recreational Activities, Event Planner, and Life Coach. When my husband and I decided that our family was done growing, I saw it as a time to redesign myself. As Natural Medicine had always been of interest to me, I focused my journey toward this path, where I landed upon Traditional Chinese Medicine.
As your Doctor, my goal is to transform your wellbeing into the absolute best it can possibly be, as my success can only be measured by the achievement of your optimal health. At each and every visit, I will work toward this goal through compassionate listening, communication, and the highest standard of care. I look forward to meeting you.
