Matthew Walters, DC is our new doctor at the Gulf Coast Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Dr. Walters has always known since he was a child that he wanted to become a doctor to help people. Chiropractic medicine was a perfect way that he could help people in a meaningful way.
Dr. Walters grew up near Houston, Texas. He went to undergraduate school at Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical science. After undergraduate school, Dr. Walters attended Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas and graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2014.
During his studies at Texas Chiropractic College, Dr. Walters was trained in multiple adjustment techniques, various modalities and rehabilitation techniques. He is well versed in diversified adjustments, instrument assisted adjusting, functional taping, and soft tissue mobilization. Dr Walters also was involved with multiple research studies for chiropractic medicine and kinesiology tape.
Dr. Walters had the chance to be involved with multiple clinical experiences as an intern student doctor, including: working with Rice University athletes, giving free treatment to women at a battered women’s shelter, and also at a free community clinic in downtown Houston. He also had the opportunity to help underserved populations in Costa Rica on a medical mission trip.
Dr. Walters is happily married to his wife Amanda. They both have recently moved to the Tampa Bay Area so his wife could pursue her medical residency to become an OB/GYN. When he is not practicing, Dr. Walters likes to spend time at the beach, go to the movies and spend time with his wife and dog, Bailey.
Dr. Walters is a member of the Florida Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association, and Pinellas Park Medical District. He looks forward to help the people of Tampa Bay!
